Accommodation

111 Miles / 179 Kilometres

This morning, Route 25 carries you north to begin your adventure, taking you out of Colorado and into the Wild West state of Wyoming. Perhaps stop off for lunch at Fort Collins and make a stop at the Terry Bison Ranch before arrival in Cheyenne. You’ll find that Cheyenne is a bustling modern city with an enduring frontier spirit. Home to fascinating attractions like the Cheyenne Depot and Wyoming State Museum and located in close proximity to splendid outdoor adventures in Curt Gowdy State Park and Vedauwoo Recreation Area.

Accommodation

280 Miles / 451 Kilometres

Today, you may choose to visit Fort Laramie shortly after leaving Cheyenne. Once a western gateway for some 35,000 pioneers who crossed the Oregon Trail, now a restored site with park rangers in period costume. Next, cross the rolling plains of Wyoming and cross into South Dakota. Keystone, your base for two nights, is a charming mountain town set amid the forested Black Hills. You’re perfectly placed to explore the region’s highlights, most notably the world-famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial, both just a few miles away. We recommend taking a drive along the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway, where winding roads, tunnels, and overlooks reveal breathtaking vistas of granite peaks and pine-covered hills, or spend time discovering the Old West character of Keystone itself, with its saloons, souvenir shops, and attractions such as the Big Thunder Gold Mine.

Accommodation

265 Miles / 426 Kilometres

After leaving Keystone, continue northeast through the scenic landscapes of the Black Hills and rolling prairie to reach Sheridan, Wyoming, for a one-night stay. Nestled at the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains, Sheridan blends Old West charm with lively cultural attractions. Explore the historic downtown with its beautifully preserved buildings, boutique shops, and local eateries, or visit the Sheridan County Museum to learn about the region’s frontier history.

Accommodation

146 Miles / 235 Kilometres

Today is a real highlight, as you head across the wide-open Wyoming plains toward Cody, a town steeped in the spirit of the Old West and named after the legendary Buffalo Bill Cody. Your stay in Cody offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and outdoor adventure. Visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, a complex of five museums showcasing everything from Native American heritage and Western art to firearms and natural history. Stroll through the downtown streets to find Western-style shops, galleries, and cafes, and don’t miss a chance to watch a rodeo if one is in season.

Accommodation

80 Miles / 129 Kilometres

The next stop on this incredible adventure, is Yellowstone National Park, where you’ll stay three nights within the park. Immerse yourself in the park’s extraordinary geothermal wonders, from the iconic Old Faithful geyser to the colourful Grand Prismatic Spring, and explore the Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Wildlife spotting is a highlight, keep an eye out for bison, elk, bears, and wolves roaming the valleys and meadows. Take leisurely walks along the lake, enjoy the hotel’s dining with panoramic views, or relax on the terrace while soaking in the serene surroundings.

Accommodation

143 Miles / 230 Kilometres

Today you’ll head south through the spectacular Teton Range to reach Jackson, Wyoming, a vibrant gateway to Grand Teton National Park. Nestled in a valley surrounded by jagged peaks, Jackson combines rustic Western charm with upscale amenities, from art galleries and boutique shops to lively restaurants. Explore the town square with its famous elk antler arches, or venture into Grand Teton National Park for breathtaking hikes, wildlife spotting, and the chance to photograph the striking silhouettes of the Tetons reflected in pristine alpine lakes. For a touch of adventure, consider a float trip on the Snake River or a scenic drive along the park’s loop roads.

Accommodation

175 Miles / 282 Kilometres

Rock Springs is a city with a rich history rooted in mining and railroads. Known as the “Home of 56 Nationalities,” the area offers a unique glimpse into Wyoming’s multicultural past and frontier heritage. Explore the city’s historic downtown, with its murals, public art, and local eateries, or visit the Rock Springs Historical Museum to learn about the region’s coal mining and railroad legacy.

Leaving Rock Springs behind, travel northeast along Wyoming’s scenic highways to reach Saratoga, a charming small town nestled along the North Platte River and framed by the Medicine Bow Mountains. Known for its natural hot springs, Saratoga is the perfect place to relax and soak in the restorative waters at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort, your base for the evening.

Accommodation

187 Miles / 301 Kilometres

Your final stop is Estes Park in Colorado. Nestled at the base of towering peaks, Estes Park offers stunning alpine scenery, charming downtown streets lined with shops, galleries, and restaurants, and easy access to countless outdoor adventures. Explore the park’s trails for hiking, wildlife spotting, and breathtaking vistas, or take a leisurely drive along Trail Ridge Road, one of the highest paved roads in the United States.

Perhaps spend your last morning relaxing in the thermal pools, before making the short drive back to Denver, where you return your rental car and check-in for your flight back to the UK.
