Combining a Texas city with Texas countryside and a Texas ranch! This fabulous three centre itinerary allows you to enjoy the diverse experiences of Texas, without spending hours driving. It’s the perfect way to discover the Lone Star State.
This fly drive includes:
Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to San Antonio. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and proceed to your hotel where you will spend the first two nights of this Texas adventure.
This city boasts so many attractions and experiences that you won’t want to miss, that you will have a busy full day exploring. Be sure to head to the iconic Alamo to discover its history as a way station between East Texas and Mexico, and subsequent battle where defenders, William B. Travis, James Bowie, and David Crockett, died fighting overwhelming odds for freedom. Sample original Tex-Mex cuisine, experience the largest Mexican market north of the Rio Grande and explore the famous River Walk; a network of cobblestone paths that run along the river connecting cafes, hotels, shops and theatres.
Leaving the big city behind, you take the short and scenic drive into Texas Hill Country, a region known for its rolling limestone hills, spring-fed rivers, and charming small towns. This area is beloved for its natural beauty and slower pace of life, offering a contrast to the city yet just a short drive away. It’s a popular destination for wine tasting, hiking, tubing on rivers like the Guadalupe and Comal, and enjoying bluebonnet blooms in spring. The region also hosts numerous festivals and local artisan markets that highlight the area’s creativity and community spirit. You’re staying at a wonderful resort, which offers the charm of a Hill Country ranch house, with exposed wood beams and wood-trimmed porches, plus a myriad of activities to enjoy, including a five acre waterpark with lazy river and waterslide, a golf course, tennis courts and spa.
Today you will make the short drive to the Cowboy Capital of the World – Bandera, where you’ll enjoy a two night stay at a traditional cowboy ranch. Wake up with a horseback ride to a cowboy cook-out breakfast, or stay at the corral where traditional meals are served. Mayan offers numerous daytime activities, and in the evening you can enjoy music and entertainment at the ranch or in nearby downtown, which has traditional-styled saloons and even a line-dancing hall. Two horseback rides are included daily, with horses suitable for beginners and intermediate riders.
Time for some last minute shopping or sightseeing, before making your way back to San Antonio Airport, returning your rental car and checking in for your flight back to the UK.
