Looking to explore the greater reaches of Atlantic Canada? This itinerary not only discovers a wide range of locations in Nova Scotia – Halifax, Cape Breton Island, Lunenburg, Annapolis Valley, and Bay of Fundy – but also ventures into Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.  This fly drive includes:

  • Round trip scheduled flights
  • Intermediate 4 door car hire including insurances
  • Accommodations as stated

Itinerary

62 Miles / 100 Kilometres

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Halifax. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and proceed to your hotel, located in the heart of town.

Accommodation

97 Miles / 156 Kilometres

You have a short, but beautifully scenic journey this morning. We suggest a stop at Peggy’s Cove; a small fishing village built into the granite rock and protected by its historic lighthouse, and at the pretty town of Mahone Bay. The Victorian town of Lunenburg, lovingly restored to its historic splendour, provides your accommodation for this evening.

Sightseeing in Lunenburg, Western Shore and Peggy’s Cove

Accommodation

110 Miles / 177 Kilometres

Today you cross from the south to the north of the island, accompanied by beautiful scenery provided by Kejimkujik National Park. Before arrival into Digby, we suggest a slight diversion to Annapolis Royal. Founded in 1605, it boasts 150 heritage buildings offering numerous unique shops, artists’ studios and galleries and is home to Fort Anne National Historic Site, a location of great historical significance.

Accommodation

160 Miles / 257 Kilometres

This morning, take the three hour ferry journey from Digby to Saint John and the short drive to St. Andrews. We’ve allowed two full days for you to enjoy St. Andrews, a lovely seaside town full of character and old world charm.

Sightseeing in St. Andrews

Accommodation

103 Miles / 166 Kilometres

Following the coastline and make a stop at Saint John to experience the reversing tide boat ride. Hugging the coastal cliffs, the 16 kilometre Fundy Trail Parkway is one of the itinerary’s highlights. Be sure to stop at Hopewell Rocks, New Brunswick’s most famous attraction. At low tide you can walk the sea floor, whilst at high tide the waters flood the caves. Your destination is Moncton, where a visit to Magnetic Hill provides the illusion of being pulled uphill by a magnetic force.

Sightseeing in Moncton

Accommodation

210 Miles / 338 Kilometres

New Confederation Bridge brings you to the smallest province in Canada – Prince Edward Island. Enjoy two days exploring the sand dunes and beaches, Prince Edward Island National Park and the island’s many other attractions. Explore Province House National Historic Site in Charlottetown, the site of Canada’s birthplace in 1867, and absorb the great charm of this colonial seaport.

Accommodation

115 Miles / 185 Kilometres

Take a short drive from Orwell Corner Historic Site to the southern tip of Prince Edward Island, where the ferry carries you across to Pictou, Nova Scotia. Your journey continues with a scenic drive to Cape Breton Island, which is reminiscent of a small Scottish island. Take the Cabot Trail into the highlands of northern Cape Breton, aligned by the lochs and glens once settled by Scottish Highlanders, and hugging the scenic coastlines settled by Acadians. From your resort, you can enjoy easy access to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, which is filled with moose, deer, lynx, bear and beaver.

Accommodation

213 Miles / 343 Kilometres

It’s an easy driving day today, so you can set off at your leisure for a short but beautiful journey to Dundee. View spectacular vistas, rolling seaside terrain and breathtaking seascapes as you approach Baddeck, a picturesque village on the shores of Bras d’Or Lakes. We suggest a stop for a scenic cruise on the lake or simply wander the boardwalk, before arrival into Dundee

Accommodation

Today, your final drive brings you back to where your journey began in Halifax. The rugged Atlantic coast accompanies your journey, dotted with small fishing villages and many photo opportunities. First settled in 1749, today Halifax is Nova Scotia’s capital and the largest city in the Maritime Provinces. Visit Fort Redoubt National Historic Site, a 200-year-old fortification overlooking Halifax Harbour, or Halifax Citadel National Historic Site for terrific views of the city.
