The ninth largest city in the United States, Dallas offers great shopping, dining and entertainment to its visitors, and is home to the Dallas Art District boasting numerous museums and galleries. We suggest a visit to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, located at the very spot from where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot John F Kennedy. The museum examines the life and death of the much loved former president. Theres also a huge amount of shopping options and some terrific restaurants covering international cuisines.

It’s a short 30 minute drive today as you head towards the cowboy city of Fort Worth. Experience the wonderful art galleries in the city’s Cultural District, enjoy shopping in the 35-block Sundance Square, and immerse yourself into true cowboy culture at the Stockyards National Historic District. After buying your own Stetson and spurred boots we recommend you visit Billy Bob’s, the world’s largest honkytonk, where a live rodeo takes places every Friday and Saturday night.
Accommodation
Hilton Fort Worth, Fort Worth
Guestrooms are well-furnished in warm palettes of brown and cream, with fresh white accents, and feature the Hilton Serenity Bed, granite bathrooms, mini refrigerator and 42” flat screen televisions. Suites are also available offering additional living space, perfect for larger families.
Leaving the big cities behind, you will drive west to the historic town of Fredericksburg where you will experience a very different pace of life. This beautiful town is nestled in stunning Hill Country; in the heart of the wine region, with a vibrant art and live music scene. Perhaps during your stay, you may choose to take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the iconic historic district or spend the afternoon wine tasting on 290 Wine Road. We also recommend a visit to Downtown Lukenbach, which consists of just three buildings; a ramshackle tavern/general store, a blacksmith shop and an old-time dance hall – but this is also where Willie Nelson wrote a number of his songs, bringing it to fame.
Accommodation
Hoffman Haus, Fredericksburg
The property features beautifully appointed rooms, suites, and cottages that combine rustic Hill Country character with refined, homely comfort. Expect thoughtfully curated interiors with soft linens, cosy seating areas, and elegant details that create a serene, luxurious atmosphere. Amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, plush bedding, coffee and tea maker, mini-fridges, and spa-quality bath products.
Today you will make the short drive to the Cowboy Capital of Texas – Bandera, where you’ll enjoy a two night stay at a traditional cowboy ranch. Wake up with a horseback ride to a cowboy cook-out breakfast, or stay at the corral where traditional meals are served. Mayan offers numerous daytime activities, and in the evening you can enjoy music and entertainment at the ranch or in nearby downtown, which has traditional-styled saloons and even a line-dancing hall. Two horseback rides are included daily, with horses suitable for beginners and intermediate riders.
Accommodation
Mayan Dude Ranch, Bandera
This is a truly traditional cowboy ‘dude’ ranch, which accommodates its guests in guestrooms at the main lodge or in individually decorated cabins which are scattered among the wooded grounds. Each cabin is themed so amenities vary, but all are wonderfully comfortable. Dont be surprised to awaken to cattle outside your window! The lodge rooms sit at the top of the highest areas and offer beautiful views of Bandera and the hills.
Leaving the cowboy life behind, make the short journey to San Antonio, where we’ve allowed three nights to enjoy this much-loved destination. Discover the iconic Alamo on a historic city tour, sample authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, experience the largest Mexican market north of the Rio Grande, and wander along the famous River Walk, a network of cobblestone paths that follow the river, linking charming cafés, hotels, shops, and theatres. San Antonio is a beautiful city, full of character and rich with attractions for visitors to explore.
Accommodation
Omni La Mansion del Rio, San Antonio
Blending Spanish colonial architecture and European style, the 338 guestrooms and suites feature beamed ceilings, exposed brick work and marble bathrooms. Choose from an Economy, Deluxe, Premium or River Walk room or one of the spacious suites, each with views of either the courtyard, River Walk or city and some with balconies. All rooms are furnished with a 32 inch flatscreen television, Keurig coffee maker and a mini-bar.
Today’s drive takes you to Austin; the state capital, renowned for its lively music scene. Country, rock ‘n’ roll, blues, jazz and Latin can be heard throughout nearly 200 music venues. By day, explore the history of Texas State at The Texas Bob Bullock Texas State Museum and take a stroll around Ladybird Lake. By night, sample barbeque and Tex-Mex culinary specialities at a wide choice of restaurants, and watch the nightly spectacle where around 750,000 bats swarm from the Congress Bridge at sunset.
