This circular route from Montreal, includes Quebec City, Mont Tremblant, Eastern Townships, La Malbaie, La Baie and a picturesque rail journey along the St Lawrence Seaway, ensuring an action-packed itinerary showcasing the best of the French speaking and influenced province. This fly drive also includes:
Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Montreal. Upon arrival collect your rental car and transfer to your hotel in Old Montreal.
Montreal has two distinct sides which complement each other beautifully. Old Montreal, with its quaint cobbled streets, has great character and is home to many of Montreal’s historical attractions. Downtown Montreal boasts a myriad of shopping malls, chic restaurants and lush parks and gardens.
Today, you make the short journey northwest to Mont-Tremblant. En route, you pass through the beautiful villages of Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, Sainte-Adele and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, where you can visit Cabane a Sucre Millette. Mont-Tremblant is a spectacular destination with plenty to keep you busy including horse riding, rafting and golfing.
Bordering the Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve, Hotel Sacacomie sits in the heart of the forest overlooking a majestic lake whose shores span more than 40 kilometres. Blending harmoniously with its surroundings, there is nowhere more serene or as close to nature. The outdoor possibilities are almost endless, from easy hikes and pedal boat rides to kayaking and horse riding.
A very scenic journey today, as you cross the majestic St. Lawrence River and travel south into the Eastern Townships. We suggest a stop at Trois-Rivieres, one of the first European settlements dating back to 1634, before arriving in the small village of North Hatley. Your hotel for this evening sits on the picturesque shores of Lake Massawippi.
Today it’s back to city life, making the return journey across the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. A visit to the waterfront market and cruise along the St. Lawrence River are both highly recommended. Place-Royal, Quarter Petit-Champlain and the small boutiques and cafes of Old Quebec are perfect ways to while away an afternoon, and those interested in Quebec’s history will enjoy visiting the 17th century military sites.
Today is all about enjoying the Charlevoix Region, which has been inspiring artists for centuries. Choose whether to head out onto the river, browse the quaint art galleries or spend some time at Baie-St-Paul, one of the oldest towns in Quebec. A stop at St-Joseph-de-la-Rive provides an in-depth look at the region’s maritime history.
Your journey northeast continues along the Marine Park Road, a wonderfully scenic route. Saint-Simeon, carved our by glaciers, is a popular tourist destination offering great outdoor activities. Known for beautiful sandy beaches and boat tours, during which you can take a close-up look at the whales that inhabit the waters, Baie-Ste-Catherine and Tadoussac are must-see locations before heading into the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of the province.
Returning to Quebec City, you return your car rental in preparation for a wonderfully scenic rail journey to Montreal. Sit back and relax as the landscape changes throughout the four hour journey aboard VIA Rail Corridor Train. Your final evening is back in Montreal, but, in contrast to your previous visit, we’ve chosen a hotel in downtown so you get the opportunity to see Montreal old and new.
There’s time for some last minute sightseeing this morning, before making your way to Montreal Airport to check-in for your flight back to the UK.
