Today you cross Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which in itself is a wonderful and scenic experience, and enter the more laid back peninsula area. The roads narrow, and the journey becomes simply spell-binding, dotted with small towns and villages. If you are following the Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway, we suggest a stop in Easten. Renowned as one of the best small towns in America, you can visit the Academy Art Museum, historic Quaker meeting house and stroll the streets lined with elegant Victorian homes. St Michaels is simply a picture-postcard setting. The high street is beautifully quaint, with local shops and cafes lining each side. Take a visit to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, featuring a working boatyard, hands on activities for kids and a restored 1879 lighthouse. It is just a short drive to Cambridge, but a wonderfully scenic one. Perhaps take the opportunity of a stop in Easton if you didn’t get chance previously, or choose one of the other small towns they are all idyllic.
