Upon arrival, make your way independently to the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, where you will stay for the first night. This will provide an opportunity to rest and recharge before beginning your motorhome adventure.

Today, you will take a short twenty-minute journey to Bay Shore, where you will pick up your Cruise America RV. Once you are settled, you will begin your 105-mile drive to Newburgh, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by lush green hillsides, charming hamlets, and the majestic Hudson River, which will serve as your scenic companion throughout the journey.

Spend the next few days exploring the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, taking in all the natural beauty and historic sites. Just north of Newburgh, experience the breathtaking views from the Walkway Over the Hudson, the longest elevated pedestrian walkway in the world.

Continue to Hyde Park, where you can visit the home and birthplace of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd and longest-serving president of the United States. Explore the vast presidential library and wander through over 1,000 acres of scenic parkland. While in the Catskills, we also recommend riding the Catskill Mountain Railroad, which takes you from Kingston to the top of Hurley Mountain, offering stunning views along the way.

Continue your journey north, venturing deeper into the natural beauty and wilderness of New York State. Along the way, you’ll pass through Albany, the state capital, where you can admire the magnificent New York State Capitol building. Just north of Albany, stop in Saratoga, home to the historic Saratoga Racecourse, America’s oldest sporting venue. If you’re travelling between late July and early September, you’ll have the opportunity to witness thoroughbred horse racing at its finest.

For the next few nights, we recommend staying in the Adirondack Mountains, a vast and breathtaking expanse of towering peaks, pristine lakes, and dense forests. This region is home to Lake Placid, the site of the 1980 Winter Olympics, along with countless other natural attractions perfect for outdoor exploration and adventure.

Head out of the Adirondack Mountains and leave behind the vast wilderness as you make your way toward the beautiful coastline of Lake Ontario and the Thousand Islands-Seaway region. We recommend stopping at Southwick Beach State Park, renowned for its long, sandy shoreline and excellent swimming opportunities. For all things nautical stop in Clayton and visit the Antique Boat Museum, one of the best of its kind in North America.

Today’s journey will be a long but scenic drive, primarily along the interstate, as you head west through Upper New York State. To break up the trip, stop in the charming coastal town of Oswego, known for its rich maritime history and beautiful lakefront views. Continue to Buffalo, where you can explore the redeveloped waterfront, admire the city’s impressive collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings, and perhaps sample some of its famous Buffalo wings.

From Buffalo, it’s just a short drive to the magnificent Niagara Falls, where you’ll spend the next two nights, allowing for a full day of exploration. Experience the power of the falls up close by taking a Maid of the Mist boat tour to the base of the cascades or walking along the wooden walkways to Bridal Veil Falls for a truly immersive experience. In the evening, stay to witness the breathtaking illumination of the falls, where vibrant colours light up the rushing water, creating a spectacular display.

Head east across the open landscapes of Central New York, making a stop in the Finger Lakes region, a stunning area characterised by eleven long, narrow glacial lakes carved into the hillsides. This region is not only an outdoor paradise but also New York’s premier wine-growing destination, renowned for its world-class Rieslings. In addition to its wineries, the Finger Lakes region is home to spectacular waterfalls, including Taughannock Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi.

Continue your journey to Syracuse, NY, for an urban adventure. Explore Downtown Syracuse on foot or by bike, and discover where city life meets nature along the Onondaga Creekwalk, a 2.6-mile multi-use trail connecting Armory Square to Onondaga Lake.

Shortly after leaving Syracuse, make a stop at Chittenango Falls State Park, home to a breathtaking 167-foot waterfall, set within a scenic gorge surrounded by lush forest. After taking in the views, continue your journey to Cooperstown, often referred to as “America’s Hometown”. This charming, picturesque town is best known as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum, a must-visit destination for baseball enthusiasts and history lovers alike.

On your final full day, enjoy a scenic drive through the heart of New York State, travelling along quiet country roads that wind past charming small towns, historic covered bridges, and picturesque rural landscapes.

For those with an appreciation for music history or a connection to one of the most iconic cultural events of the 20th century, your destination for the night is Bethel, NY, the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. This legendary event, one of the largest music festivals in history, became a symbol of the 1960s counterculture movement and continues to hold a special place in American history.

Conclude your epic New York State journey with a scenic drive of approximately 150 miles back to the Bay Shore Depot on Long Island. From there, make your way independently to New York International Airport (JFK), where you will check in for your return flight to the UK.
