For similarly amazing views at Revelstoke you can drive the 26km Meadows in the Sky Parkway – which snakes back and forth up Revelstoke Mountain. After your scenic drive from Revelstoke to the old railroad town of Kamloops, be sure to take a short ride on the steam locomotive to explore the city and its beautiful surroundings. Alternatively, take a guided heritage tour, hearing stories of train robbers and local artists whilst taking in the historic buildings that make up this city. Choose from a wealth of exhilarating activities including a tour of Olympic Park (home to the winter Olympics), a ride on the Peak 2 Peak gondola, zip-lining through the wooded hills and hiking the alpine trails. For a spot of culture, visit the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to see the arts and crafts of the First Nations people. The Sunshine Coast is a quick ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay (located north of Vancouver). Although it’s part of the mainland, this stretch of mountain-backed coastline is only accessible by sea or air, and has the quiet pace of an island. Boating among the coastal fjords, touring studios and galleries, beachcombing, golfing, hiking the Sunshine Coast Trail, kayaking, and fishing are draws to the area. Your base for the next two nights is at West Coast Wilderness Lodge enjoying their Signature Getaway Package. Take in the incredible inlet and ocean views from this lodge which is perched high on the cliffside. By day, explore the wild surroundings by helicopter, boat or floatplane, going beyond the cedar and fir forests to spot wildlife as well as witness the natural phenomenon of Skookumchuch Rapids, which are the fastest salt water rapids in North America.

Accommodation

111 Miles / 179 Kilometres

Once you tear yourself away from the lodge, you’ll make the journey to Vancouver Island and the small town of Parksville, which is surrounded by stunning coastline. Unlike the rugged west coast, here you will find long sandy beaches with calm waters. Try Rathtrevor and Qualicum beach which are firm favourites. Take time away from the sands on a visit to nearby Coombs Old Country Market, which has a delicious Italian theme and a quirky reputation for the goats which live on the roof.

From Vancouver Island’s east coast to its southern reaches, today you travel south to one of British Columbia’s urban cities – Victoria. You have two nights to explore to your hearts content.
