A history lovers paradise, combining Baltimore with two locations in neighbouring Pennsylvania. Your journey commences in Philadelphia, then ventures to Lancaster for exploration of Amish country, with an opportunity to visit Gettysburg. Saving the best until last, your final destination is Baltimore, where historical elements live on in the modern-day metropolis. This itinerary includes:

Itinerary

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Philadelphia. Upon arrival, independently make your way to the Loews Hotel, Philadelphia, which will provide your base for the next four nights.

Accommodation

80 Miles / 129 Kilometres

You have three full days to explore this incredible city. We suggest you take the Hop-on Hop-off Sightseeing Tour, which is included in this package, on your first day. It will allow you to get a feel for Philadelphia and start visiting some of the iconic attractions on offer at the 27 stops. Steeped in history, this marvellous city combines the old with the new, offering perfect opportunities for superb sightseeing, excellent shopping, wonderful dining and cultural activities. During your exploration of America’s ‘Birthplace of Independence’ you can visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Philadelphia’s Museum of Art which sits at the top of the steps made famous in the ‘Rocky’ movies. Learn more about the making of the first American flag at the Betsy Ross House, snap a selfie at LOVE Park, explore the museums along the Benjamin Framnklin Parkway – known as Philadelphia’s ‘Museum Mile’, immerse yourself in mosaics at Magic Gardens and relax along the pretty waterfront. For those looking for something a little more relaxed, we have also included a Longwood Gardens experience. On this tour, you will escape to 1,077 acres of botanical paradise and enjoy lush flower displays, plants from across the globe, and fountain shows. Evenings are a pleasure too. A gastronomic feast of restaurants to choose from, a wide range of entertainment and great bars and brewpubs.

Accommodation

78 Miles / 126 Kilometres

Today you collect your rental car, and make the relatively short 80-mile journey to Lancaster, where you will spend the next two nights. En route, you may wish to make a stop at Hershey, home of the famous chocolate. A factory and museum are open for visitors. Lancaster is a fascinating destination to explore. Visitors get a glimpse of farm life as it was in the early 1800s. Here you’ll discover Amish communities where life moves at a slower pace and centres around time-honoured traditions and values. The oldest Amish settlement in America is in Lancaster. During your two days in Lancaster, we have two sightseeing options for you to choose from. You can either enjoy a Downtown Lancaster Food Tour exploring the diverse mix of international flavours—such as Danish, Cuban, French, Italian, and Ukrainian cuisine or an Amish Country Tour where you will spend two to three hours immersing yourself in the customs and traditions of Amish country.

Accommodation

101 Miles / 163 Kilometres

This morning, you will leave the Pennsylvania countryside behind and head across the state border to Maryland, where you will spend your final two nights in the waterfront city of Baltimore. En route, we suggest a visit to Gettysburg, the site of the Gettysburg Battlefield and Civil War Military Park. There is also a quaint town to stroll. Baltimore is known as Charm City and you will find out why when you visit. There is so much to see and do. Inner Harbour, once an 18th-century ship-building site is a great area to visit with shops and restaurants galore. Family-friendly places to explore include the National Aquarium and the Maryland Science Centre. To get you orientated, we have included a Historical Sightseeing Tour which we suggest you take on your first full day. You will be taken to several different neighbourhoods and learn about Baltimore’s rich history and culture. Be sure to take a water taxi during your stay, take a cruise out onto the water and perhaps even take in a sporting event.

Accommodation

This morning you may have time for some last-minute shopping in Baltimore before making your way back to Philadelphia International Airport, where you return your rental car and check-in for your flight back to the UK.
