Itinerary

45 Miles / 72 Kilometres

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Anchorage. Upon arrival, independently make your way to your hotel, where you spend the first night of your adventure.

Accommodation

48 Miles / 77 Kilometres

Collect your Cruise America motorhome from the Anchorage depot and drive northeast on the Glenn Highway. You’ll pass the townships of Eagle River and Chugiak and continue on towards Palmer, which is about an hours drive from Anchorage. As you head through the Eklutna Flats, enjoy the towering vistas of the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains, and catch a glimpse of Pioneer Peak, the closest peak in the distance.

205 Miles / 330 Kilometres

Today, travel from Palmer toward Denali National Park through the scenic Matanuska–Susitna Valley and Denali State Park, with time to detour to the small community of Talkeetna if you wish. Denali encompasses six million acres of untamed wilderness, where low-elevation taiga forest gradually gives way to high alpine tundra and snow-capped mountains, culminating in North America’s tallest peak, the 20,320-foot Mount Denali. Wildlife roams freely across this vast landscape, offering a powerful sense of solitude, tranquillity, and true wilderness.

121 Miles / 195 Kilometres

Before leaving Denali National Park, consider enjoying a memorable Tundra Wildlife Tour, a full-day experience that ventures deep into the park’s vast wilderness. Home to a wide variety of wildlife, Denali offers exceptional viewing opportunities, and on clear days you may be rewarded with views of mighty Mount Denali. A snack lunch is included, allowing you to relax and fully immerse yourself in the surroundings. Later, continue toward Fairbanks, passing through sweeping forest and mountain landscapes and the historic communities of Healy, Nenana, and Ester, once a thriving gold mining settlement.

247 Miles / 397 Kilometres

Today, travel toward Paxson and Glennallen, passing through the historic town of Delta Junction. Just outside Fairbanks, you’ll pass North Pole, home of North America’s Santa Claus and a fun photo opportunity. From Delta Junction, the journey continues south through expansive Alaskan landscapes toward Paxson and Glennallen, with wide-open scenery and a true sense of the state’s vastness along the way.

119 Miles / 191 Kilometres

Today, continue on to Valdez, enjoying one of Alaska’s most spectacular journeys. Along the way, the route parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and, weather permitting, offers breathtaking views of the Wrangell Mountains. Pass the dramatic Worthington Glacier and travel through Keystone Canyon, where cascading waterfalls tumble through steep, rugged cliffs, creating a truly unforgettable landscape.

90 Miles / 145 Kilometres

This morning, journey across the stunning waters of Prince William Sound, surrounded by dramatic coastlines, glaciers, and pristine wilderness. After arriving in Whittier, continue through striking mountain scenery toward Seward, where the landscapes unfold in a breathtaking mix of rugged peaks, forested valleys, and coastal beauty. This is a day defined by Alaska’s raw natural splendour, both on the water and on land.

87 Miles / 140 Kilometres

Today, visit Kenai Fjords National Park, renowned for its pristine and rugged glacial landscapes. The massive Harding Icefield feeds 38 glaciers that carve the fjords, creating rich habitats for a variety of marine life, including mammals, fish, and seabirds. This awe-inspiring scenery showcases some of North America’s most breathtaking natural beauty before continuing onward.

126 Miles / 203 Kilometres

Return your motorhome to the Cruise America depot in Anchorage, make your way to the airport and check in for your flight back to the UK.
