Accommodation

107 Miles / 172 Kilometres

Pick up your motorhome from Cruise America in Phoenix and head straight to Tucson, a city that enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine each year! The mild temperatures of spring, fall, and winter are legendary, and even in summer, the combination of low humidity and moderate altitude makes the heat more comfortable. Tucson’s vibrant downtown and surrounding desert landscapes offer plenty to explore and enjoy.

75 Miles / 121 Kilometres

You’ll want to spend some time exploring Tucson, so today’s drive is intentionally short. The stop in Benson is perfectly placed, as it’s just a short drive from the historic town of Tombstone and the famous OK Corral, definitely worth a visit today or tomorrow. The area is set in the scenic San Pedro Valley, surrounded by four distinct mountain ranges.

253 Miles / 407 Kilometres

Today involves a longer drive, just over three hours, leaving plenty of time to visit Tombstone first if you didn’t get there yesterday. Along the way, consider stopping at historic Bowie, dating back to 1880, just before crossing into New Mexico. Keep an eye out for the impressive peaks of Mt. Graham (10,717 ft), the Doscabezas Range (8,363 ft), and the Chiricahua Mountains (9,796 ft).

223 Miles / 359 Kilometres

This morning you are only minutes to downtown Las Cruces, the second largest city in New Mexico, offering theatres, museums, wonderful dining, and gracious Southwest hospitality. Do check the website for great local information and visit before you start your four hour drive. The major city of New Mexico is your destination today and on the way we’re sure you will want to stop at ‘Truth or Consequence’ to find out why its name was changed from ‘Hot Springs’. Be sure to visit the historic bath house district.

207 Miles / 333 Kilometres

A longish drive today but as it is all on one road and should take less than five hours. You will want to break your journey at the Petrified Forest National Park between Chambers and Holbrook and then continue through Cocino National Forest to Flagstaff.

196 Miles / 315 Kilometres

The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, around the Mather area, is an ideal base for exploring this natural wonder. Start your day immersed in the breathtaking scenery and serene quiet of the canyon, with opportunities to enjoy the landscape at sunrise or throughout the day. Facilities in the area ensure a comfortable visit while keeping the focus on the park’s dramatic beauty.

118 Miles / 190 Kilometres

You may want to visit the home of the Grand Canyon Railroad in Williams before continuing south. On the way to the intriguingly named Dead Horse State Park in Cottonwood, which has an interesting story behind its name, consider stopping in Sedona to take in its stunning red rock scenery. The area offers plenty of options for visitors, with multiple locations available for a comfortable stay, and it’s a good idea to plan ahead to secure your preferred spot.

121 Miles / 195 Kilometres

It is 125 miles the Cruise America depot in Mesa, where you return your motorhome. Make your way to Phoenix airport and check in for your flight back to the UK.
