Thi itinerary also includes:
Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Memphis. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and proceed to Sheraton Downtown Memphis, where you will be based for the first four nights of your holiday.
Immerse yourself in the city renowned as the home of the blues and birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll – Memphis! We’ve allowed three full days for you to truly experience this exciting city which offers a plethora of things to see and do. Make sure you don’t miss Graceland – undoubtedly a must-see. In addition, why not enjoy a tour of Sun Studios and peruse Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Smithsonian’s Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and the Gibson Guitar Factory. Evenings can be spent enjoying live music and sizzling soul food on Beale Street, offering an opportunity to dance the night away.
Leaving Tennessee behind, follow historic Highway 61 from Memphis to Cleveland, located in the much-loved Mississippi Delta! Cotton Row, in the centre of Cleveland’s Crosstie historic district, is lined with little restaurants, cafes, and galleries. The district is named for the railway that made Cleveland’s economy thrive in the late 1800s; railroad buffs will want to visit the Martin and Sue King Railroad Heritage Museum to learn more. Cleveland is also proud to be the location of the Grammy Museum, celebrating the best in music. From your base in Cleveland, where you’ll spend three nights, you are able to discover the whole of this beautiful area. A few miles outside Cleveland, you’ll find Dockery Farms where Charley Patton learned to play the blues and set history in motion. Also ensure you visit Clarksdale, Greenville, Greenwood and Tunica where a wealth of attractions await. One things is for sure – when you travel the roads of this region you’ll find that every stop has its own distinct individuality and character, each worthy of exploration. Edge-of-cotton-field blues clubs, BBQ shacks as old as the road itself, and a culture and history that runs deep.
It’s time to pack your bags and head back across state lines to Tennessee. At Memphis International Airport, you return your rental car and check-in for your flight back to the UK.
