Itinerary

Accommodation

Combining the amenities of a major metropolitan city with the friendliness of a small mountain town, Salt Lake City is a beautiful and vibrant city. Salt Lake combines unparalleled access to natural recreation, dynamic nightlife, remarkable history and warm hospitality. Ensure you make time to visit the majestic Temple Square, which is a short walk from the hotel.

Sightseeing in Salt Lake City

Accommodation

235 Miles / 378 Kilometres

Today you depart Salt Lake City and head south to Moab. Just before arrival in Moab we suggest a stop at Dead Horse Point State Park, which offers one of the most spectacular views in Utah. 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, views of red rock pinnacles, buttes and spires appear endless. Known as Utah’s ‘Adventure Capital’, Moab has become a world-renowned destination because of its surreal red rock landscapes, unique downtown and outdoor recreation opportunities. Join a jet boat trip or daily float on the Colorado River or explore red rock canyons and formations by foot, bike, jeep or horse. The recreational opportunities are endless. Moab is also known as the gateway to Arches National Park. Delicate natural sandstone arches and impossibly balanced rocks are among the amazing geological features at Arches, home to the world’s largest concentration of naturally formed rock arches, including one of Utah’s most iconic images, Delicate Arch.

Sightseeing in Arches National Park

Accommodation

146 Miles / 235 Kilometres

Heading south, you journey towards Four Corners, the famous point at which Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico come together. Tucked between sandstone cliffs and the San Juan River, rich in human and natural history, Bluff is a central point along the Trail of the Ancients National Scenic Byway, serving as a gateway to quintessential Southeastern Utah destinations such as Monument Valley. Ancestral Puebloans were the first to settle the area, leaving behind an impressive array of rock art, abandoned dwellings, and other artifacts as clues to their lives in this harsh desert landscape. Nomadic Paiute, Ute, and Navajo tribes also traveled through the Bluff region, leaving their own archeological marks as well as modern-day influences on the local culture.

Accommodation

100 Miles / 161 Kilometres

This morning take a small detour to visit Canyonlands National Park. Canyonlands preserves a colourful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. From there depart for the “Trail of the Ancients” with stops at Newspaper Rock and the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, home to the largest collection of Ancestral Puebloan pottery in the Four Corners Region. If you wish to continue your Navajo experience, enjoy a jeep tour of Monument Valley; a vast open desert region and the setting for more Western movies than any other site in the world.

Accommodation

129 Miles / 208 Kilometres

Today, depart Monument Valley for Lake Powell. Spend the night at the Lake Powell Resort overlooking the man-made lake, which was created when the Glenn Canyon Dam was built in 1966. Don’t miss taking the boat trip out to Rainbow Bridge, the tallest natural bridge in the world.

Accommodation

100 Miles / 161 Kilometres

A shorter drive today as you leave behind Lake Powell and head to Zion National Park, where desert terrain and huge sculpted rock formations co-exist alongside waterfalls and blossoming gardens. When translated, Zion means the “promised land,” which is the perfect way to describe this peaceful yet dramatic landscape. Tour Zion Utah’s oldest and most visited outdoor attraction on a guided shuttle, by bike, or follow the trails on horseback.

Accommodation

72 Miles / 116 Kilometres

Today’s short drive brings you to spectacular Bryce Canyon. Here you can see some of the earth’s most colourful rocks, sculpted by erosion into pillars and spires. You may choose to leave your car and take a hike along one of the many loop trails down into the Canyon and walk among the colourful stone monuments.

Accommodation

112 Miles / 180 Kilometres

Another short drive brings you to Capitol Reef National Park. Named for the enormous rock ridge that runs for more than 150 Km through it, Capitol Reef is a very peaceful and tranquil National Park with several hiking trails and scenic drives winding through it. Features of Capitol Reef include multi-colored cliffs, twisting canyons and miles of slick rock wilderness as well as pioneer orchards.

Accommodation

218 Miles / 351 Kilometres

Today you make your way back to Salt Lake City Airport to return your rental car and check-in for your return flight back to the UK.
