Today, you’ll embark on a guided excursion through the Low Country region along the Georgia coast. Begin at the Pin Point Heritage Museum, where you can experience the unique Gullah/Geechee culture that developed in the wetlands near the Sea Islands of Georgia. Housed in a former oyster and crab processing factory on the banks of the Moon River, the museum offers stunning views of the wetlands and features exhibits and multimedia presentations that highlight the oyster fishing traditions and folkways of the Pin Point community, which has thrived as an isolated, self-sustaining Gullah/Geechee enclave founded by first-generation free people deeply connected to the water.
Next, travel to the historic town of Beaufort, known as the “Queen of the Carolina Sea Islands.” Here, you can choose between a locally guided historic walking tour or a carriage ride.
