Lodge rooms are housed within the main stone-and-timber building and evoke the warmth and character of a classic mountain retreat. Interiors feature natural wood finishes, earth-toned fabrics, and large windows that frame scenic views of the surrounding forest or granite rock formations. The decor is inspired by the local landscape, blending understated elegance with lodge-style details such as log furnishings, pine accents, and nature-themed artwork. Each lodge room is well-equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen television, a coffee maker, a mini refrigerator, and plush bedding with soft linens and warm duvets for a cosy, restful night.
Sylvan Lake Lodge is spectacularly located within the boundaries of Custer State Park, South Dakota’s largest and most iconic state park, encompassing over 71,000 acres of protected wilderness. The lodge overlooks the stunning Sylvan Lake, often referred to as the “Crown Jewel” of the park. Positioned at over 6,100 feet in elevation, the lodge is surrounded by dramatic granite spires, pine forests, and pristine mountain scenery. From this serene base, guests have immediate access to some of the park’s most celebrated outdoor attractions, including Cathedral Spires, Sunday Gulch Trail, and the trailhead to Black Elk Peak, the highest point in South Dakota.
