A small boutique hotel of self catering units, Black Spruce features four architectural suites perched on granite boulders and set in the Northern boreal forest. Modelled after European landscape hotels, the property is designed to bring a unique and upscale accommodation experience to guests. Each suite features a large 10′ x 10′ south facing window which directs guests views towards the forest and rocks. Each unit features a kitchen with 24″ range, compact shower and toilet, heated marble tile bathroom floor, loveseat sofa, hardwood flooring, queen size bed, and basic amenities, such as tea and coffee. The units are equipped with organic sheets and organic towels, pots and pans, cutlery, kettle, dishes and more. Please note that there are no televisions in these accommodations.
Nestled in the boreal forest, connected by cedar boardwalks, the four uniquely designed and built eco-friendly units sit in a tranquil oasis in Yukon Gardens - which is just a ten minute drive from downtown Whitehorse. The ethos of treading lightly on the earth extends to many unique construction techniques used in the Yukon Black Spruce. The property uses high quality building materials, including wide plank solid wood flooring, earthen plastered walls, heated marble tile flooring, straw bale insulation, and a unique exterior finish called shou sugi-ban, a process where each piece of siding was burnt and charred before being installed.
