Famous as the site of the biggest battle of the Civil War, spanning over just three days of July 1863, where thousands fought and died, Gettysburg is truly a town of huge historic proportions. The surrounding Adams Country offers outstanding scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. There are many opportunities to relive the battle of Gettysburg. Watch a re-enactment or imagine the battle at the Gettysburg Battlefield, travel through the Gettysburg National Military Park, with over 1,000 monuments and cannons along over 40 miles of scenic roads. Visit the National Military Park or the 6’000 acre Civil War military park by horse, Segway, carriage, bus or from your own car.

Wonderful wilderness, breathtaking beauty, not to mention a decent workout — hiking is the perfect way to spend the day. Hike a section of the U.S.’s longest hiking-only path, the Appalachian Trail, or discover the ancient trees of Cook Forest where the Hemlocks and Pines are more than three hundred and fifty years old.

The Pocono Mountain Region is renowned for its natural scenic beauty, enveloping seven state parks and over 150 lakes and rivers for year round splendour. An amazing assortment of outdoor attractions and recreation awaits visitors, from skiing and snow tubing in the winter to hiking, horse riding, fishing and boating in the warmer months.

During the fall, Pennsylvania bursts into oranges, yellows and crimsons, making the countryside perfect for everything from photos to scenic drives. 

Of all the amazing views, one that is rarely mentioned is the amazing view of the stars. In fact, there may be no better place to stargaze in the Northeast. Pennsylvania boasts some of the darkest skies on the Eastern Seaboard, which makes the view of the Milky Way even more stunning.
