Mount Rainier, soaring to 14,410 feet, is the tallest peak in Washington State and a defining landmark of the Pacific Northwest. This majestic, glacier-capped stratovolcano dominates the surrounding landscape, offering breathtaking vistas from nearly every angle. The mountain and its surrounding area are protected within Mount Rainier National Park, a 369-square-mile expanse of old-growth forests, alpine meadows, cascading waterfalls, and pristine rivers. The park’s diverse ecosystems support a wide array of wildlife, including black bears, elk, marmots, and numerous bird species, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife photographers alike.

The surrounding region provides an abundance of recreational opportunities year-round. In summer, visitors can hike hundreds of miles of trails, from gentle walks through wildflower-strewn meadows at Paradise to challenging climbs on the mountain’s glaciers. Winter transforms the area into a playground for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and mountaineering. Nearby towns like Woodinville and Tulalip provide convenient access to accommodations, dining, and outdoor services, making the Mount Rainier area both a natural wonder and a gateway for adventure in the Pacific Northwest.
