Groton

Located midway between New York City and Boston on the Thames River, Groton offers a rich mixture of shoreline living, New England history, and recreational activities.

Visit Fort Griswold, a Revolutionary War era base built to defend the port of New London, most infamously known as the site of the betrayal of American forces by Benedict Arnold. Groton is also the “Submarine Capital of the World,” home to the US Navy’s main submarine base, as well as the Submarine Force Museum, where visitors can board the first nuclear submarine.

Eastern Point Beach provides a beautiful location to enjoy the waters of Long Island Sound and visit Bluff Point state park for a day of adventure with hiking and biking trails or take out a boat and try your skills at saltwater and shell fishing.
