Lava Hot Springs is located in the mountainous valley of the Portneuf River. The city is a popular resort location, noted for its numerous hot springs soaking pools. Bubbling out of natural underground springs, the Lava Hot Springs are laden with minerals and odorless, promising a relaxing, healthy soak. Each of the five outdoor hot pools have constant flowing hot mineral water whick vary in temperature from 104 degrees to 112 degrees.
If wild is more your style, take a thrilling inner tube run on the Portneuf River, which is fed by the local hot springs.
From specialty shops to fine international cuisine, Historic Downtown Pocatello is a magnet for people looking for a unique, historic experience. Take a Historic Walking Tour featuring buildings listed on the National Historic Registry with the dates like 1892 and 1903, whose architecture is as beautiful today as when first built. These buildings are alive with antiques, sporting goods, books, bakeries, restaurants, art galleries and more.
Pocket parks are scattered throughout the area, some with beautiful public art pieces and others with water fountains and benches. Events and entertainment includes outdoor summer concerts, haunted history tours and the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market featuring a variety of locally grown produce. There’s always something happening in the historic heart of Pocatello.
The Portneuf Greenway has nature filled trails at either end of the Historic Downtown area. It includes 13+ miles of walking and biking paths along the river in town.
