Hells Canyon, North America’s deepest river gorge, encompasses a vast and remote region in Idaho and Oregon and features dramatic changes in elevation, terrain and vegetation. This destination is packed with beauty, adventure and culture, where one’s imagination can run as wild as the landscape.

Take advantage of the area’s scenic vistas, whitewater rafting, jet boating and fishing. Or tour the many sacred sites that make up the Nez Perce National Historical Park, which celebrates the Nimiipuu, who have lived on these lands for thousands of years.

While you are there, be sure to take a guided float trip or jet boat tour between the giant slabs of green and black bassalt walls of this mammoth canyon.

In and around McCall are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as five golf courses in the area.

The north fork of the Payette River flows through McCall on its way to becoming a playground for kayakers with world-class whitewater, thrilling by paddlers from around the world. Lewiston

Lewiston sits 160 miles to the north of McCall. The Lewiston Levee Parkway Trail, part of the Clearwater and Snake River National Recreation Trail, begins at the entrance to the day-use area in Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston. Explore the 13 mile trail on a bike or take the family out for a picnic and look for wildlife in the area. Along the way, read the interpretive plaques that describe the historic journey of Lewis and Clark as they traveled through the area on their way to the Pacific coast.
