The quaint village of Hot Springs is set amid the Allegheny mountains and valleys bursting with summer and winter activities. Within the Alleghany Highlands is the awe-inspiring Falling Springs waterfall. Thomas Jefferson described the Falling Spring Falls as a “remarkable cascade…falling over a rock about 200 feet to the valley below.”  One of the largest falls in Virginia, it cascades from an overhanging ledge and is easily visible from the roadway.

In summer you can enjoy world-class golf, horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking, hiking and biking in the George Washington National Forest and a multitude of other outdoor recreational activities. In the winter, take to the slopes for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, or ice skating at Allegheny Springs.

If your not the adventurous type, then why not stroll, shop, and enjoy a variety of dining options along a picturesque Main Street. Art galleries and antique shops feature prominently as you walk along the beautiful tree-lined street.

Hot Springs History

What makes Hot Springs so significant is that it contains elements of "resort" and "rural". Many of the village's buildings exist today in the same form as they have for 150 years or more. This quaint village is home to the post office, market, and apothecary which have been fixtures on the street for over a century. Stroll, shop, and enjoy a variety of dining options along a picturesque Main Street.

From June to September Hot Springs is home to the Farmer's Market which offers locally-grown produce, crafts, artisan goods, and entertainment. The Omni Homestead Resort, which has been the centrepiece of Hot Springs since 1766, offers first-class lodging, dining and an abundance of recreational activities year 'round for both the recreational and business traveller. The Garth Newel Music Centre has been presenting world-class chamber music, jazz and blues performances since its inception in 1973.
