Miramichi is the largest city in northern New Brunswick, situated on the mouth of the Miramichi River, entering Miramichi Bay.
The Miramichi River valley, famed for its fantastic salmon fishing on the river, is the second longest valley in New Brunswick, after the Saint John River Valley. This unique landscape offers cultural experiences that allow you to discover the heritage of the region and its people.

Visit one of the neighbouring First Nations communities and experience a traditional Native American ceremony featuring dance, feasting, and a blessing by a shaman, otherwise known as a Powwow. The art of storytelling is integrated deep within the roots of Miramichi. Discover ghost stories, lumberjack legends and other local folklore to entertain your imagination. The city is also known for its variety of popular festivals such as the Miramichi Folksong Festival and Canada’s Irish Festival on the banks of the Miramichi River.
Miramichi also has a long history of shipbuilding which is rooted at the Ritchie Wharf Park. where you can charter a boat, enjoy live entertainment, fantastic restaurants, art galleries or just stroll along the boardwalk. Visit Boishébert and Beaubears Island Shipbuilding National Historic Site of Canada, to learn about the Acadians who took refuge, or explore Middle Island where you will hear the hardships and stories of the Irish immigrants who landed here.
