This fly drive includes:
Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Vancouver. Upon arrival collect your rental car and proceed to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel which is located in the heart of downtown and provides your base for the first two nights.
Widely regarded as one of the best cities in North America, Vancouver is bursting with character and filled with attractions. Meander through downtown, enjoying the outdoor cafes, bars and restaurants. Head down to Gastown, renowned for its steaming clock, and shop the quaint boutiques that adorn the streets. Take a walk along the waterfront promenade, watching the floatplanes take to the air and to Stanley Park where Totem Poles stand sentry, the gardens are awash with colour and the horse and carts bring back visions of a bygone era. A trip to Grouse Mountain is a must, with a stop en route at Capilano Suspension Bridge.
Today you leave the city behind and head to Vancouver Island, driving to the port of Tsawwassen to board a scenic ferry crossing to Swartz Bay. From here, it’s a short drive to Victoria, where you’ll settle into the Oswego Hotel, ideally located in the charming James Bay area, just a short walk from the Inner Harbour and waterfront. The Victoria area offers a wealth of attractions, with whale watching a must-do experience, as local waters are renowned for visiting pods of orca. Other highlights include the world-famous Butchart Gardens, Victoria Butterfly Gardens, and the historic Craigdarroch Castle.
It is a short but wonderfully scenic journey north today to the western coast of Vancouver Island, where Tofino awaits your arrival. Set in an ancient landscape within the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation (pronounced klaw-oh-kwee-awt), Tofino is surrounded by the vast, breathtaking expanse of the UNESCO Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region—a region cherished for its profound biodiversity and environmental culture. Quiet inlets, old growth rainforest and rolling waves create a harmonic feeling of serenity and peace and of course, the outdoor opportunities are almost limitless.
Leaving the wild, rugged coast behind, you follow scenic highways through lush rainforests and along sparkling inlets to reach Parksville. Known for its tranquil beaches and charming small-town atmosphere, the area invites relaxation and gentle exploration. Stroll along sandy shores, visit local parks, or enjoy a cafe by the water.
From Parksville, you make your way to Departure Bay to board a BC Ferries crossing back to the mainland, arriving at Horseshoe Bay. The journey offers stunning coastal views, with forested islands and sparkling waters along the way. Once in Vancouver, settle in for your final night, taking time to explore the city’s vibrant neighbourhoods, waterfront promenades, and diverse dining scene.
Just a short drive brings you to Vancouver Airport, where you return your car rental and check in for your flight back to the UK.
