Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Boston. Upon arrival, transfer independently to The Dagney, located in the bustling waterfront district, close to Faneuil Hall and the Old Statehouse.
The cosmopolitan city of Boston is a delight to visit. Great food, wonderful shopping and a wide array of attractions will keep you entertained. Explore the Freedom Trail, shop at Quincy Market or try a Boston ‘Duck Tour’ and get to see the city from land and water. If time allows, peruse the upscale shopping at Newbury Street, hop aboard a Swan Boat at Boston Common park or even try a Boston Red Socks baseball game!
After collecting your rental car, this mornings drive takes you north into the coastal state of Maine. En route, we suggest a visit to Salem, renowned as the home of witchcraft and Gloucester which is filled with small town character. Your drive traverses the beautiful Massachusetts and Maine coastlines, scattered with small towns and villages to the pretty town of Kennebunkport.
Its only a short drive but wonderfully scenic, as you meander through eastern Maine’s forrested valleys to New Hampshire. You’ll adore charming Jackson, a quintessential New England village framed by covered bridges, forrested trails, and the dramatic peaks of the White Mountains. Take a scenic drive through the White Mountain National Forest, where you can hike to waterfalls, follow winding mountain roads, or journey up the Mount Washington Auto Road for panoramic views from New England’s highest summit. Nearby North Conway offers excellent outlet shopping, local dining, and the chance to ride the nostalgic Conway Scenic Railroad through mountain valleys.
Crossing the state line into Vermont today takes you into Green Mountain country, awash with beauty bestowed by Mother Nature. No matter what time of year you visit there’s a lot to keep you entertained, from hiking and biking to browsing the quaint village shops. Explore the small picket-fence towns, with white steeple churches, head out onto the water and meet the friendly locals who welcome visitrs with open arms.
Your next stop on this adventure is Manchester, Vermont where you’ll spend a further two nights. Manchester offers the perfect blend of small-town charm, outdoor adventure, and timeless New England elegance. Nestled between the Green and Taconic Mountains, this picturesque village invites visitors to unwind amid scenic beauty and classic Vermont hospitality. Spend your days exploring boutique shops and local cafes along Main Street, browsing designer outlets, or visiting the historic Hildene estate, once home to Abraham Lincoln’s son. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike forested trails, cast a line in clear mountain or hit the slopes at nearby Stratton and Bromley.
Today is one of the longer driving days, as you traverse the pretty Berkshires of Massachusetts. Be sure to call at Deerfield and Amherst, both pretty little towns. If time allows, take a small detour to Stockbridge, where the Norman Rockwell Museum is an interesting discovery. Your destination is New England’s smallest state – Rhode Island. Newport was the summer resort of America’s first millionaires and still has an upscale feel with spectacular mansions lining the ocean front. Visit The Breakers and Marble House to experience the grandeur, and spend some time following the Cliff Walk for exceptional views.
Journeying east today, you’ll leave Rhode Island and return to Massachusetts, heading straight to the bustling harbour town of Hyannis, your base for the next three nights. This central Cape Cod location puts the very best of the region at your fingertips. Enjoy easy ferry access to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket, wander Hyannis’ vibrant Main Street and waterfront, or set off on a scenic drive to Chatham. You can also head up to Provincetown for a memorable whale-watching cruise and sweeping coastal views.
Its a relatively short drive back to Boston, so we recommend calling at the pretty town of Sandwich and at Plymouth where you will find Plimoth Plantation, a living museum depicting life in 1627. Once back at the airport, you return your car rental and check-in for your flight to the UK.
