Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Memphis. Upon arrival, proceed to the Hyatt Centric Beale Street Hotel.
Step aboard your river cruise and embark on an unforgettable eight-day journey along the Mighty Mississippi, where warm hospitality and immersive experiences await. Your voyage begins with a welcoming reception, the perfect chance to meet fellow travellers before settling in to enjoy enriching onboard entertainment, gourmet dining, and ever-changing river views. Depending on your departure date, you will sail aboard the American Serenade, American Symphony, American Melody, American Splendor, or American Heritage, each offering elegant comfort and exceptional service throughout your adventure.
Your first ports of call reveal the heart and soul of the Deep South. In Cleveland, Mississippi, known as the “City of Hospitality,” discover a town shaped by cotton farming and celebrated for its musical legacy on the Mississippi Blues Trail, highlighted by the GRAMMY® Museum Mississippi. Vicksburg follows, a city steeped in Civil War history where the National Military Park brings the past to life through narrated tours, museums, and the famous floodwall murals. Further south, Natchez enchants with its antebellum mansions, French colonial roots, and charming Main Street, while St. Francisville offers historian-led insights into the Battle of Baton Rouge and the region’s wartime heritage.
Between ports, enjoy a leisurely day cruising past cottonwood trees and blue herons, with engaging enrichment talks, lively events, and time to relax on deck. Experience Louisiana traditions at the legendary Myrtles estate with Cochon de Lait cooking and stories of local folklore, before visiting grand plantation homes along River Road. The oak-lined Houmas House and Gardens, known as the “Crown Jewel of Louisiana,” provides a fitting finale, showcasing opulent interiors, fragrant gardens, and refined Southern hospitality as your Mississippi voyage draws to a close.
On arrival into New Orleans, disembark your vessel and make your way downtown, to Hotel Monteleone – your base for the next two nights. Everyone adores New Orleans! This colourful city is overflowing with history, vibrant characters, warmth and charm.
Hop on board a Street Car and view the city from a new perspective, wander the French market where hot chocolate and crepes draw visitors from far and wide or tour the French Quarter – with its Jekyll and Hyde characters by day and night. Canal Street is the traditional starting point for any tour of New Orleans. Head off in any direction from this downtown hub and you are bound to see or find something of scenic or historic interest. The Warehouse District which was once a 19th-century storage district for coffee and grain is known today as the New Orleans Arts District filled with amazing art galleries, fine restaurants, and world-class museums.
Enjoy your final morning in New Orleans, perhaps shopping or picking up some souvenirs, before you make your way to the airport and check-in for your flight back to the UK.
