After your overnight stay high above sea level, consider taking the nearby Skyride up to 11,500 feet for sweeping views of the Grand Canyon, Coconino National Forest, and Flagstaff itself. There are hiking trails in the area, or you can head south to Walnut Canyon to explore its ancient cliff dwellings carved into the rock walls. Next, drive just 45 miles west to Williams, the gateway to the Grand Canyon, where you’ll stay for two nights. There are several ways to visit the Grand Canyon: by car, by rail on the Grand Canyon Railway, or via guided tours.
