A Historic Colorado Train Journey

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad was originally built to transport silver and gold from the San Juan Mountains. Today, the railway carries visitors through some of Colorado’s most spectacular scenery.

Leaving from the historic Durango depot, the train follows the Animas River towards Silverton. The route passes through dramatic mountain scenery, remote wilderness, historic mining areas and steep-sided canyons.

The train crosses the Animas River several times during the journey, providing spectacular views from both sides of the carriage. Look out for the famous Highline, historic stagecoach routes, old mining camps and peaks rising to more than 14,000 feet.

First-Class Alamosa Parlor Car

For a more exclusive experience, upgrade to the Alamosa Parlor Car, a historic carriage dating from 1881.

The First-Class carriage features comfortable table and lounge-style seating, along with an outdoor viewing platform. Guests also receive complimentary morning pastries, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and enhanced onboard amenities.
